Modernizing a Loan Platform for Security, Accessibility, and Data Insights
A regional lending institution needed to modernize its online loan application platform. The organization serves blue collar and middle-class consumers and partners with retailers to provide financing alternatives to high-interest lending options.
The goals were clear: create a secure, user-friendly, mobile-responsive, and accessibility-compliant platform while also building stronger data capabilities. They wanted a partner who could stabilize the platform immediately, then build a foundation for future innovation, including advanced analytics through Power BI.
The solution
Agile Software Development with a Data-Driven Approach
Our three-year engagement began with a comprehensive Discovery audit and migration of applications from a previous vendor. Using agile best practices, we implemented a Scrumban process, built a prioritized backlog, and focused on improvements in security, analytics, and the customer journey.
A key milestone was the integration of Power BI. By replacing spreadsheet-based reporting with dynamic dashboards, the lender gained access to real-time analytics and actionable insights.

Immediate Support: During the Discovery phase, we identified a range of issues and security vulnerabilities. These were prioritized and resolved quickly to stabilize the platform. We also seamlessly transitioned support and assumed responsibility for both consumer and retail-focused loan applications.
Long-Term Overhaul: We redesigned the front end of both loan applications to deliver a mobile-friendly, ADA-compliant, and secure experience. Monthly monitoring for Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures (CVEs) ensures proactive risk management.
Growth & Insights: Through our Development-as-a-Service model, the institution spread investment costs over time, including the buildout of a third retailer-specific loan application. Alongside feature development, we rolled out Power BI dashboards for real-time analytics, improved debugging, and streamlined vendor reporting—empowering the lender to grow strategically with data-driven decision-making.
